Abstract

This article presents a bibliometric review that analyzes the intersection between the themes Urban Form and Urban Mobility, focusing on the distinction of scientific production related to the four distinct methodological approaches of Urban Morphology: historico-geographical, typo-morphological, configurational and spatial analytical. The survey was carried out in the Scopus and Web of Science databases and used specific search strings to identify studies published throughout the historical record of the respective databases. The results show a significant growth in scientific production, with emphasis on spatial analytical approaches and, above all, configurational as the most used methodologies. The study also detects the methodological advancement of the tools and applications of the configurational approach within the thematic intersection, establishing new possibilities and a new scale of use of configurational studies, which through the application of open source tools, shows its potential for disseminating knowledge and as an auxiliary tool for Urban Planning and in promoting sustainable development (SDG 11) of cities. The article concludes with suggestions for deepening the assessment by carrying out a meta-analysis of the specific methodologies of the applications of the configurational approach in the assessment of the relationship between urban form and mobility in urban centers.
